Beginning January 27th, every child in the class will participate in our weekly
spelling program! Each child will be given a green notebook where he/she will
keep their spelling words. Spelling words and sentences will be written on the
board for them to copy into their notebook every Monday (or Tuesday if we are
off on Monday). To practice writing the words a worksheet will be sent home
where they will write the word 3 times each. (This should be not be done in
their notebooks!) To ensure that the students are practicing the words, this
worksheet will be due BEFORE the spelling test at the end of the week. For the
first week there will be 5 words given out and then from then on there will be 10
words (5 review words and 5 new words). They will have a spelling test at the
end of each week. The tests will occur on a Friday but could happen on a
Thursday if we are off on Friday.
**Tests will take place on Thursday if that particular Friday is a half day.
Do not have your child go ahead and write the words in their green notebook.
We do this as a class on Monday morning and they need to do it to practice
the words.
If your child is absent on Monday when we write the spelling words in our notebook please refer to this website and have them write the words in their notebook so they are prepared to take the test.
Week 1- January 27th (Test on 1/31)
